Meeting with Renowned Scholar Mail Yagub on the Topic “Higher Education and Higher Upbringing” Held at Baku Business University

On December 3, 2025, a meeting with students on the topic “Higher Education and Higher Upbringing” was held at Baku Business University by the well-known philosopher and sociologist, PhD in Philosophy Mail Yagub. The event was attended by academic staff and students.

The event was opened by the Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs Javidan Heydarov, who noted that such meetings play an important role in shaping young people’s worldview, as well as in developing their intellectual potential and moral-aesthetic values. He then gave the floor to philosopher Mail Yagub.

In his speech, Mail Yagub emphasized that higher education is not only a process of acquiring scientific knowledge, but also a stage of personality formation and raising individuals who are beneficial to society. He spoke about the importance of evaluating the concept of higher education in unity with the concept of upbringing and shared profound philosophical ideas with students about becoming thoughtful, responsible citizens loyal to their national identity.

He stressed that when the concept of “higher education” is not complemented by “higher upbringing,” the educational process remains incomplete. In his speech, M. Yagub paid particular attention to several areas forming the foundation of higher upbringing, including moral, cultural, intellectual, and emotional education, and interpreted real-life events related to these important topics.

The event continued with an interactive question-and-answer session. Students actively participated in discussions on the values of higher education, the social responsibility of youth, and the interconnection between education and upbringing.
