Baku Championship and Open Tournament in Wing Chun Held at Baku Business University
On April 26, 2026, the next Baku Championship and Open Tournament in Wing Chun was held in Baku. The competition was jointly organized by Baku Business University, the Baku City Youth and Sports Department, and the Azerbaijan Wing Chun Federation. The event took place in the sports arena of Baku Business University.
A total of nearly 150 athletes from 12 sports clubs across Baku, all members of the federation, competed for victory in the tournament.
At the opening ceremony, Asif Sayadov, President of the Azerbaijan Chinese Martial Arts Association, wished the participants success and provided information about upcoming prestigious tournaments. Javidan Heydarov, Vice-Rector of Baku Business University, also delivered a speech, wishing the competitors success. Afterwards, Mahmud Mehtioglu, Vice President of the Federation, and the Chief Referee Hakim Taghiyev gave detailed instructions to the athletes regarding the competition rules.
At the end of the competition, the athletes who placed in the top positions were awarded diplomas and medals by the federation. The top three winners earned the right to participate in the Azerbaijan Championship, which will be held on June 14 in the city of Lankaran.
