
A Knowledge Day event was held at Baku Business University to mark the beginning of the 2026/2027 academic year.
The event began with a minute of silence in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This was followed by the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Speaking at the event, Rector of Baku Business University, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Ibad Abbasov, sincerely congratulated the young people who had earned the status of university students. The Rector noted that admission to university is not only an important milestone in the lives of young people, but also opens up new opportunities and brings significant responsibilities. He encouraged students to acquire professional skills, gain new knowledge, and actively participate in the University’s social and public life.
Professor Ibad Abbasov emphasized that one of the key objectives of Baku Business University is to prepare students as highly qualified professionals equipped with the skills required by the modern labor market. The Rector wished the students discipline and determination in achieving their goals, as well as continued success throughout their academic journey.
Member of the Milli Majlis and Full Member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Ziyad Samadzade, congratulated the students on Knowledge Day. He noted that higher education plays an important role in shaping a person’s worldview, intellectual potential, and civic position. The Academician encouraged young people to acquire the knowledge and skills essential for the country’s development, cultivate scientific thinking and a culture of reading, and set ambitious goals for themselves.
Ziyad Samadzade stated that in the modern era, economic development, the introduction of innovations, and the protection of national interests depend on educated, patriotic, and highly professional young people. He advised students to make effective use of their university years, pay close attention to the recommendations of their lecturers, and remain open to innovation in their future careers.
As part of the event, special attention was given to students admitted to Baku Business University with scores of 400 points or higher in the 2026/2027 admission examinations. In accordance with the relevant decision of the Scientific Council of Baku Business University dated July 13, 2026, these students were awarded a one-time scholarship in an amount equal to their admission score, along with gift books.
The students received the book “Karabakh Economy – Over 100 Years” authored by Academician Ziyad Samadzade, the seven-volume “Economic Encyclopedia,” and a book dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Baku Business University.
At the end of the event, the faculty deans congratulated the newly admitted students and welcomed them to the University community. The student groups were then announced, and tutors and volunteers guided the students to their classrooms.
